Good morning, and sorry for the short post, been raining work and deadlines! meh.
Let me just say that I like the way this guy thinks. Check him out.
I saw this video last year while doing some research for a corporate company profile video project and it stuck, now it is time to share it. I love what Boone Oakley did, it should be an inspiration to other agencies and clients looking for company profile videos. Keep it simple, focus on the message, inject some humor into it and boom there you have it. Please stop asking for flashy, fancy, complicated story-lines with corporate mumbo jumbo Voice Overs, keep the latter for b-movie trailers.
Always remember that everything is better in slow motion. Oh and its Friday again as another week comes to an end. Today I have decided to spare you from the design mumbo jumbo and share one of my favorite music videos by Spike Jonze. The song is one by UNKLE and the whole concept of the vid is simply awsome.

So the London summer olympics are coming up. Cool. The city will be buzzing with events and happenings like never before. Cool. World class athletes will flock to the city in huge masses, run, throw spears, kick balls…and entertain the crowds that will be watching. Cool! Now what I am wondering is where the heck did these ridiculous looking mascots come from? All concepts and creative ideas aside, did some portal open and let the two creatures in? Did baby cyclops wet his pants? I am baffled, confused and unamused. Meh. Get a closer look.

Everyday we seem to learn something new when roaming the web in search for the next useful designer tip. I have always found some things in photoshop to be annoying when it comes to designing, this is probably because I am a fan of illustrator. Yeh, yeh I know they both serve completely different purposes. After reading this article on web design workspace in photoshop I said to myself, why didn’t I see this before? maybe this could make my life easier? I think it will once I begin applying it to my photoshop workspace :) here is the article, check it out and get creative.

Annual reports have never been a favorite of mine. The amount of numbers, charts, graphs and technical/statistical data are enough to do my head in. Many will agree with me and others will not, I would usually turn down an offer to design one of these reports. However, here comes a guy who changes that whole game, Mr. Nicholas Felton.
His annual report designs are mind boggling and super cool! Lots of amazing typography, inforgraphics, and an amazing play on colors and cutting edge ideas. I love it, it is inspiring, and makes me wanna run around town collect all kinds of data and design annual reports. That is a full time job on its own. Get inpired right here :)

This is the season where rain falls randomly after a sunny day and brings with it dirt, dust and filthy waters. This of course brings a lot of business to the car washers and creates a very creative medium for artist Scott Wade. Check out the rest of Scotts dirty car pix here, and happy Monday to all our DH followers and supporters.

When we are short on space and just need that extra small surface to lean on, put stuff on, eat on….and on and on and on, you get yourself one of these awesome little table. Nice clean look and practical, thats all we have to say about it. Check out some more photos here.

The world of designing Identities is a huge one. I have always been slightly obsessed with logos and am always on the look out for tips, tricks and new ways to inspire my students and myself to design and communicate better identities. Here is a post which goes straight to the point. Enjoy.

One of the most challenging things we have to do as designers are the things we have to design for ourselves. This can range from your own personal identity, business card, and most importantly your portfolio. Many designers tend to go over board with their portfolio designs to reflect layout / design skills. Avoid this! We suggest focusing on the content of the portfolio rather then the portfolio itself. Keep it simple, keep it clean, keep it clear. UnDesign it! More on this here.

While scanning through the cool stuff on thisiscolossal we found this unusual post which is both awsome and slightly scary. A bathroom situated over an old elevator shaft, designed by Guadalajara-based architects Hernandez Silva Arquitectos.
How much time would you spend in a bathroom like this? More about this here.
Green cars or eco friendly cars have become very popular with the rise of CO2 levels around us. The problem many times is that the average “green cars” are not very powerful, do not look very stylish, and need an extra little push to attract peoples attention. SMART created an EBALL game to show off their green car and the its power. Awsome!

If you have ever walked into an IKEA outlet somewhere in the world, then you have experienced the pulling power it has. You simply feel relaxed and willing to spend your money there even if you never planned on buying something for your home. If you have purchased IKEA products then you know that you have to assemble them yourself, this creative process can lead to some interesting ideas. Especially when you have issues with the instruction booklet. Here are some awsome examples of what people have come up with.

As living spaces decrease in size, people are constantly on the lookout for new ways to save space and utilize what they already have. Well, Philippe Malouin figured that if you have space for some coat hangers, you might also have space for extra chairs? :) Find out more here.
